Dear Tiger Family!
When I wrote the initial welcome letter, I explained that the construction process was very fluid. Unfortunately, after a major storm last week, our elementary school suffered some unexpected water damage that has delayed the contractor's completion timeline. At this point, we do not feel that the contractors can ensure that we will have a safe learning environment for our elementary students. With that being said, myself and the board of education have made the difficult decision to delay the start date of the 2023-24 school year to Tuesday August 29, 2023.
We know that this is not an ideal start to our school year. However, I want to assure you that we are working diligently and daily with the contractors to ensure that the building will be ready and safe for our students by August 29th. The safety and wellbeing of our students, teachers, and staff will always be our top priority.
With this change, we will move the open house date to Monday August 28th from 5-7 pm. The student registration dates will not be affected by this change. Please click here to see the amended school calendar for where these school days will be made up. Three days will be added to Christmas break and one day will be added to the end of the year.
Again, I apologize for the inconvenience that this will cause and I appreciate your patience throughout this construction process. We are very excited for you to see the end result and for our students to have a clean and safe learning environment. It is times like these that I am so thankful that I am part of such a great and supportive community.
The administrative team and secretaries are all available Monday through Friday from 8 am to 4 pm if you need anything prior to the start of school. Feel free to reach out to my office with any questions or concerns.
